In accordance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the GMEC is an organized administrative system that oversees all residency and fellowship programs sponsored by the University of Kansas School of Medicine. The Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education has the authority and the responsibility for the oversight, monitoring and administration of the GMEC. The GMEC has the responsibility for monitory and advising on all aspects of residency education. Responsibilities include:
- Establishment and implementation of policies that affect all residency programs regarding the quality of education and the work environment for residents in each program.
- Regular review of all residency programs to assess their compliance with both institutional requirements and program requirements of the relevant ACGME Resident Review Committees (RRC).
GMEC meetings are usually held the first Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the University Room, 2nd floor Murphy (view schedule). Minutes are taken at every meeting and distributed to every member of the GMEC. Minutes can be obtained by contacting the GME Office. Voting members include the following:
