Seminars/Conferences

All residents and fellows are strongly encouraged to attend Core Competency Conferences throughout their training program, usually held the second Tuesday of every month in G013 Varnes (School of Nursing Building) from 6:30-7:30 am. All conferences focus on at least one of the ACGME Core Competencies: Patient Care, Medical Knowledge, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Professionalism, Practice Based Learning, & Systems-based Practice.

Each year, the University of Kansas School of Medicine GME Office also provides a "Residents as Teachers" conference and workshop emphasizing techniques that enable residents to integrate their teaching duties into daily patient care activities. These Conferences are co-sponsored by the University of Kansas and the University of Kansas Hospital to comply with the requirements of the ACGME and to provide improved quality patient care.
